New to Ground Control Pro

Post by Tyler142 »

I’m new to the midi world and I was curious to see if I could get some info and help on setting up my new rig.

Rig consists of:
Marshall JMP-1
Marshall 9200 power amp
Pedals that are going to be in a rack drawer
GCX
Ground Control Pro
Power conditioner

Step by step info would be greatly appreciated!

Should be a pretty cool setup when its done!

For the pedals, will they all be in front of the preamp or will there be any effects after the preamp (or in it's effects loop)?

MIDI Connections:
1. Ground Control Pro MIDI Out to GCX Pedal In. (If you make sure this cable has all five pins wired, the GCX will provide Phantom Power to the Ground Control Pro.)
2. GCX MIDI Out to JMP-1 MIDI In.

Basic Ground Control Pro Setup:
1. You will want to name the JMP-1 as a MIDI Device and assign its MIDI Channel. (the default MIDI Channel is MIDI Channel 1 so it is probably a safe bet to enter "01" on the Ground Control Pro.)
Look to the Device Name / Channel section of the Ground Control Pro under Setup Mode for information on how to program this.
2. You will wan to enable GCX-1.
Look to the Expanders section of the Ground Control Pro under Setup Mode for information on how to program this.

Now you should be ready to start creating Ground Contorl Pro presets... let us know if you get stuck!

Thanks for the info! As far as the pedals go, I’m not sure at the moment. I heard the FX loop of the JMP-1 isn’t much, and I’m not sure about running it in front because I have a few time based pedals (Eventide TimeFactor and Space) not sure how they would work in the front.
