px8 plus using amp fx loop and midi question
Hello. I have been evaluating for a long time which switcher is suitable for my pedalboard since in addition to the fact that I want to manage 9 pedal switches via the switcher, I would strictly like the last three effects to remain in the fx loop of the amp (Delay: Boss DD200; Mod.: Strymon Mobius ; rev.: MXR M300) ... Considering that the Boss DD200 and the Strymon Mobius can also be managed via Midi, I can make one of these be my ninth pedal of the switcher by accessing its switching on and off exclusively through midi? Also, specifying that I am completely ignorant of midi, can I connect the Boss DD200 (the oddity of thought comes from the fact that I want a midi cable of its own) to the Strymon Mobius and then connect them both to the PX-8 plus? This switcher seems to me very nice and suitable for the little space left in my pedaltrain .... but before evaluating the purchase I would like to know if I can meet my needs described above. Thank you

Wow, sorry for the delayed reply!
The PX-8 Plus will send a Program Change with each preset. You would program each connected MIDI device to do what you want them to do whenever they see this Program Change message. In this way you should also be able to get away with running a ninth pedal outside of a PX-8 Plus loop.
Some devices have specific needs to control their bypass state... if we cannot control the bypass directly then the typical workaround is to program a "blank" patch on that device that is active but has no effect. For instance, if you if the DD-200 was your "ninth" pedal, and you wanted it to be bypassed for a given PX-8 Plus preset, you could program the DD-200 to recall a patch with the Effect Level dialed all the way down.
MIDI does not need to follow your audio signal flow so you can connect the MIDI cables in any way that is most convenient for your rig. Since the DD-200 uses an atypical MIDI cable connection, I would likely just put it last in the MIDI path so you would only need one special MIDI cable.
I hope that helps!
