GCP, PX8+ amd HX Stomp

Post by 63fender »

Trying to implement the HX Stomp into my live rig. Need to send PC and CC. I want 3 or maybe 4 of the IA buttons to send these commands but, I cant find how to program it to send the commands I need.

The Ground Control Pro of course will send both Program Change and Control Change messages. The Presets generally send the Program Changes, and Instant Access buttons each send a single Control Change.
If you haven't already, look to the MIDI Continuous Controller On/Off section of the Ground Control Pro manual under Setup Mode. This will explain how to set the MIDI Channel and Control Change message for each Instant Access button.

What exactly do you want to control remotely on the HX Stomp?

I'd like IA 5-8 to control a few of the blocks on the stomp. I don't necessarily want it to change presets.

I suppose your first step then is to look to the HX Stomp manual for "Block Bypass via MIDI" under the MIDI Section. This tells you how to get into the HX Stomp to either assign a Control Change message to a particular Block Bypass or to at least see which Control Change message might already be assigned to a Block Bypass.

This is the Control Change number you will assign to the Ground Control Pro Instant Access button you want to use to Bypass this Block. The HX Stomp defaults to MIDI Channel 1. So as an example, let's say you wanted to use Instant Access button #5 to bypass the Vintage Digital Block.
1. You would to go in to the HX Stomp and assign the block Vintage Digital to Bypass using "CC4"
2. You would then go to the Ground Control Pro and assign Instant Access button 5 to be MIDI Channel 1, and use Control Change 4.
(The actual CC number doesn't matter other than they need to match between the HX Stomp Block Bypass and the Ground Control Pro Instant Access button you wan to use for this Block.)
That's it except to repeat the steps for each Block you want to Bypass with buttons 5-8.

While I have not had any time with an HX Stomp, I have set this up on an HX Effects and it works exactly as expected.

I hope that helps!
