GCX acting as if normal'd

Post by stephenmaglio »

hi i recently purchased a GCX used. unlike my previous one, this one appears to pass signal to all loops even if i don't connect the I/O between my first and last loop. for example if i use the thru input, use loops 1-3 (daisy chain outputs to inputs) if i take output of loop5 i get signal unless i engage a loop (before 5). also i can totally hear dry signal when i engage a loop. i had a phaser in loop one, when i engage loop 1 i hear phasing but i hear dry guitar too - at least as loud as the wet signal. anybody know why this may be happening? are there iternal normal'ing switches? thanks in advance.

It would appear that this GCX has in fact been modified to do exactly what you are seeing. It isn't an uncommon mod to find out in the wild but it does render making rig changes rather difficult.

I'd first talk to the seller to try to get a rundown on exactly what has been done inside this GCX.
Alternatively, we can take a look at it to find what someone thought they were doing and let you decide if you want to keep the mods or have us return it to its original state.

I hope that helps!
