GCX System with OD pedals

Post by ChrisParry »

Greetings guys and gals,

I'm currently using the GCP and a TC Electronics Gmajor 2. The GM2 is running through the effects loop of my amp. I currently have my drive pedals on my board going directly into the front of the amp.

I want to add the GCX loop system so that I can control additional pedals in the rig.

I understand that the GCX and GCP can turn the pedal on in that loop, but I am unsure how the wiring up would be.
Would the GM2 be one of the loops into the GCX? That would make sense.

But how do I run the drive pedals, controlled by GCX & GCP into front of amp and not into the effects loop of the amp.

There would be 3 pedals which need to go through GCX into front of amp, then the other 4 (and GM2) into the effects loop.

Am still a newbie to all this. Diagrams would be terrific!

I know how to tell the GCP which effect to switch on and off it's just the signal path of splitting the pedals into front of amp and effects loop I don't understand.

Please help
Thank you

Chris

The loops on the GCX are all independent from each other so its no problem to have any combination of them in front of an amp vs in the FX loop of the amp.

Here is a diagram of a very similar setup.

http://www.voodoolab.com/gcxdiagrams/01 ... _AmpSw.pdf

In this diagram Loops 1-4 are routed to the front of the amp, 5 & 6 are in the amp's FX Loop. Loops 7 & 8 are being used to replace the two button footswitch for the amp, but there is no reason you couldnt just use Loops 1-3 to the front of your amp and 4-8 in the amp's FX Loop.

For switching the G-Major2, I suppose it all depends on how you use it most that would be the main decision of putting it into a GCX Loop or not. A GCX Loop will allow you to remove it completely from the signal path when not in use, but if you rely on the G-Major2 for a solo boost then you might want to keep it in the signal path at all times.

I hope that helps!
