John - what is the newest firmware version (including beta, if applicable)? I’m not at home at the moment so I can’t verify what I’m on, but I can say it would likely be whatever version was shipped with the GCP approx 10 or so years ago.
What I’m really looking for is a way to assign imstant access functionality to one or two of the bottom row switches when in 4 presets/bank mode (I only really need two presets, and could use the extra two IA switches).
Thanks.
Newest firmware
Re: Newest firmware
The most recent production units have v1.14.
There is the v2 Beta if you want to try it out, but it does not do the mode you are asking for. The v2 Beta has the same 10 Presets or 4 Presets per bank but adds an all Instant Access mode where there are two banks of 12 Instant Access buttons. The IA Mode can be used standalone or in combination with another Ground Control Pro to expand the number on Instant Access buttons.
Give us a call or write to info@voodoolab.com if you want to get a v2Beta chip set for your Ground Control Pro.
I hope that helps!

Re: Newest firmware
John - thanks!
I was able to pick up a second GCP and install the v2beta chip. so now I have 2 GCPs: GCP1 (v1.13) 4 Presets/bank and GCP2 (v2beta) all IA. I have two follow-up questions.
First, is there a replacement I can get for the led screen (the green led screen at the top of the unit)? on the new one I bought (GCP2) there are a few led segments that stay lit and sometimes interfere with being able to read some of the programming (e.g. sometimes a "4" looks like "6"). Not a huge problem as long as I pay attention, but mildly annoying...
Second - re: MIDI path and programming. I have the MIDI path as follows: GCP1 MIDI out> GCP2 Midi in. GCP2 MIDI out > GCX. GCP2 being phantom powered and GCP1 being powered via the wal-wart. I was trying to program last night patches on the GCP1 enabling certain IA switches on GCP2, but no IA switches on the GCP2 would save. I tried it with neither GCP being linked, as well as GCP1 as Link Master and GCP2 as Link Slave. Am I doing something wrong, or is it that you can only program the IA buttons on the Master unit and the All IA unit is just IA, with no programming?
Thanks again for your help.
Tom
EDIT:
I just occurred to me (may be obvious, but every now and then MIDI still scrambles my brain), even though the 2 GCPs are linked (via MIDI cable, not necessarily in linked mode), the All IA GCP still needs to be programmed/setup to indicate that GCX 1 is enabled and the other MIDI devices (and respective channels) down-chain still need to be programmed/identified within the All IA GCP - i.e., that information isn't passed through from GCP1 (4 preset/bank), correct? This may not solve my patch programming issue, but would be necessary in order for GCP2 (All IA) to effectively control either the GCX loops and/or MIDI device CC on/off messages, right?

About the display, I'd seriously doubt that a display segment remaining lit is the fault of the Display Element itself... that said, we would be glad to take a look at this Ground Control Pro for you to fix whatever is going on. Before we go that route, I do have to ask, did you have re-initialized the memory on this Ground Control Pro since you changed the firmware chip? It will very likely do funny stuff if you don't reset the memory.
About programming the IA buttons on the second Ground Control Pro... What exactly are you setting these buttons to do? If they are set to control GCX Loops then you shouldn't have to do anything on the IA Ground Control Pro other than to program the function of the buttons. If they are programmed where you are assigning the MIDI Channel and Control Change number then you will likely need to also set them as "Transmit with Preset". Let us know what these buttons should do and I should be able to help you better.
Either way, all preset programming in this setup will be on the Preset Ground Control Pro.
About your edit... You should not be enabling GCXs or defining any Devices on the IA mode Ground Control Pro (more accurately to say is that you cannot anyway since it won't even let you). You certainly shouldn't be setting either unit's Link modes as they are not intended to work together that way given the differing firmware. Leave them both set to Link = None. For that matter, if you are only controlling GCX loops, leave all settings under MIDI at their initialized defaults in the IA Mode unit.
Almost all MIDI data will actually be generated by your Preset Ground Control Pro and the IA Mode Ground Control Pro will simply set its LEDs to match the data as it passes thru. Of course the IA Mode Ground Control Pro will be the message source when you actually press one of its buttons, or if you are setting its buttons to Transmit with Preset.
