First off, I'm not a guitar person. I bought the GCP because of the build quality, midi standard, and expression petal inputs. I program every button possible on my GCP! But one thing that makes me a little frustrated is that the 8 instant access assignments are difficult to get into from program mode (in firmware 1.11 or 1.12 I need to change the setup which is like 2 menus deep so I can display all 4 or 8 or return to program mode). Perhaps there might be a short cut to resolve this? How about add two extra banks so that if you cycle forward or back through the 16 banks you get to the 4 and then the 8 instant access control displays?
I'd also like to see more assignment options for the program mode. In particular, I would like to have the option to trigger a note or cc from my available 127 assignments. Just a quick send at any global/individual velocity or duration will do. I only use it for software assignments or to trigger other hardware controls. Would be great to have the ability to change programs and adjust controls at the same time. These types of assignments are pretty common in other foot petals but they really can't stand up to the tank build quality of the GCP!
The reason I mention all this is because I currently need to use a program called Bome Midi Translator to input keyboard shortcuts into my DAW (control groups of 8 track records, solos, mutes, effect sends and etc) and for controlling older hardware synths/samplers. The 8 instant access controls are simply not enough for how I want to use the GCP. Program changes are great but there are a lot of things that are standard note/cc assignments on my PC or hardware devices. Anyway, adding note and cc to the banks assignments would be an awesome asset and expand the functionality of the unit to make it a really solid stand alone device.
