GCX control from Axe FX 2

Post by micah2494 »

Hey guys. New to GCX and have MIDI routing questions. I have an AXE FX 2 XL+ controlled by an MFC-101. I connected a GCX to the MIDI out from the AXE FX to the Pedal in of the GCX ( I cut pins 1 and 3 to prevent phantom power damage to the AXE FX). I'm trying to figure out how to route the MIDI in the AXE FX to tell the GCX to turn loops on and off with preset changes. I have read both manuals (the GCX is pretty brief) but it seems a bit difficult to understand on the AXE FX side. I cross posted this question on the AXE FX forum as well. So hopefully one of their gurus will speak up.

Can you guys tell me what the behavior of the "Active" LED on the GCX should be in normal circumstances? I currently get a heartbeat like pulse with both systems on and in standby. There is slightly more activity when changing AXE FX presets via the MFC-101 foot controller.

After reading the manuals, it seems as though I need the AXE FX MIDI to send commands (on channel 16) to the GCX when a preset changes for a data value of either 0 (off) or 127 (on) for each loop (controller #80-#87). Does this seem accurate? I will refer to the AXE FX guys to make that part happen.

Thank in advance for any help you can provide.

Wow. Tough Crowd.

Seriously, no one knows how to do this? OK. Fractal forum wins, hands down.
