Newbie question about connecting an ADA MP-1

Post by morbidpr »

I just bought a used Ground Control Pro. The manual says it can manage up to 8 different devices. And the way to connect them is with a 5 pin cable from GCP midi out to midi in of first device, then from midi thru to midi in, in each device until final unit that will go from midi out to Midi in on GCP.. My question is that I have two moded MP-1, and the midi in on that preamps have 7 pin sockets. What should be done there to connect those preamps to the GCP? Can the 5 pin cable be connected to the 7 pin socket on MP-1 without any problem?

Any comment will be appreciated!!

Hi there,
The manual says a 5 pin midi cable is fine to use if you have a GCX that it plugs into, it also says to use a 7 pin midi cable if you are phantom powering it from a device that has a 7 pin plug. I’d give the 5 pin cable a go though, can’t hurt anything.

Page 8 of the PDF has this info.

Also, you don’t need to go all the way back to your GC Pro with an input cable. Just daisy chain to you last device and that’s it.
