MIDI and the PX-8 Plus

Post by SterlingLl »

So I've been reading and tinkering for a week now and I'm just stumped.
I've got a PX-8 Plus and I'm using an Empress Reverb and a Strymon Volante with a MIDI signal chain of PX-8 Plus MIDI out> Disaster Area MIDI Box 4 MIDI in and then regular 1/4" cables running from both expression jacks into the Disaster area MIDI box.
Actually at first I had PX-8 Plus MIDI out> Volante MIDI in, then Volante MIDI out> Disaster Area MIDI box 4, 1/4" TRS from Empress Reverb to Disaster Area MIDI Box 4.
It would seem I get the same effects either way. So here is my problem. What I'd like to happen is to be able to set up those two MIDI effects however I like, then hit the save button until it blinks, then save said settings to the A, B, C or D of whichever bank I like...rinse, repeat and recall to my hearts content.
Instead it never remembers my settings but instead cycling through the A, B, C or D of each bank just cycles through presets on the pedals in absolutely no discernable order.
All I want to do is set it, save it and recall it. I mean this things supposed to do that right? I've spent days just setting, resetting on and on each parameter of the pedals and the PX-8 hoping to luck into the right combo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I get it now I think. The magic happens when you start matching presets on the pedals to locations on the bank. I dunno though, it seems like some enterprising individual could make a switching system that performs in the way I thought this one would out of the box. Someday... :?
