GC Pro setup issue with two pedal switchers...HELP!

I have two pedal switchers that I want to control with my GC Pro. I've enabled GCX-1 and GCX-2 in the expanders- no probs there. I'm just wanting to use the Instant access option 4 now, so I've set up 4 presets per bank- no probs there either.. but when it comes to configuring the instant access buttons , I have set up the first switcher fine, GCX-1, Loops 1-4,corresponding to instant access buttons 1-4, but I can't get the second pedal switcher to activate thru GCX-2, Loops 1-4, to correspond with instant access switches 5-8. I have linked the second pedal switcher to the first with a midi cable- midi out on ps1 to midi in on ps2 ... is that right?? What am I doing wrong?? Any help would be sincerely appreciated!! The Pedal Switchers act as 1/2 of a GCX. Pedal Switcher #2 will respond using the controllers for GCX #1 Loops 5-8 in this setup.
