How to fix a broken footswitch on a PX-8

Hi there, last night I kicked one of the switches on my PX-8 and the switch went flying. I have the switch and was able to find the spring assembly, The question is can I fix this myself? I am assuming that the wider side of the spring goes into the switch with the narrower side going down into the unit, but I can quite figure out how to reconnect it.
