I sorta have the same question. I bought my GCP new some times ago and I'm wondering if there was any firmware update since. My curent version is 1.13. If the software needs to be updated (now or in the years to come) is it via midi or it's a chip or something?

since I'm at it I'd like to ask for a feature for next update. I like the way u can set cc per preset for the volume pedals. I wish it was the same with the switch. Ie. On 1 preset #1 could send cc 1 and activate chorus and on preset #2 it could be loop 8 of gcx for channel sWitching or whatever. I guess if u go that way when u change preset gcp would have to send all ccs u need at the start evn those not assigned in this preset...

There is a software update in the works, however more preset locations is likely not something we will be including. There is no official release date for this software and no complete spec list just yet, but watch for updates in the announcements section for any news as it breaks.
Trex, what are you doing that requires more preset locations?
ljbarbeau, Updates will be in the form of a user installable chip. As for the other question about sending Control Change messages with presets, this can already be done. In 4 Presets per Bank mode, any Instant Access button can be programmed to transmit with the presets, however without knowing exactly what you are controlling it is hard to say exactly how you should go about doing this. The state of the GCX loops is always able to be programmed with each Ground Control Pro preset regardless of the bank mode used.

hahahah john i was just curious. in some cases i play for more than one band. so either i need to have more patches for song titles or it would be cool to get a software program that you can save your presets on your mac for later use.

I guess I didn't explain myself very well.. (my english might not be the best)
Basically what I meant is a way to control more then 8 things even though I only have access to 8 buttons.
1st example: I have a BBE 482i stereo going through my GCX. since its stereo it goes through 2 loops. But I don't want it to be controlled by 2 buttons. 1 button that could switch those 2 loops together would be great.
2nd example: I have a triple rectifier. I also use the GCX for switching channels. the way 3ch rectifiers are made; channel 1 as priority. meaning if I'm on channel 1 and I want to activate channel 3. I have to press channel 3, then press channel 1. If the GCP could just send both signals together (3 On , 1 Off) it would be great.
3rd example: WIth my GCX I control 3 channel switching, I have 2 pedals, and BBE stereo. I also have a G-Major 2 which has 9 things I wanna be able to turn On/Off via CCs. so all in all, I have 16 things I want to control but only 8 buttons. But to tell you the truth most of those things I don't need in all presets. and that's what I meant first. I could create 1 preset dedicated for whammy effect. in which button #1 on my GCP would control pitch On/Off state. On another preset dedicated to chorus; the same #1 button on my GCP would control chorus and not pitch anymore. (does that make sense?)
I know these aren't possible right now and that's why I post them as feature requests. And I'd be very happy to get those features. also a song mode would be nice.

+1 on the mac editor that would make everything so much easier!

If this really must be something that is always available for an on the fly on/off switch, then the Stereo Mod for the GCX would be an option. This will turn the last four loops of a GCX to Stereo using TRS connectors.

The upcoming update solves this issue. The v2 software will allow you to define any number of Instant Access buttons as an exclusive group where only one is allowed to be active at any time. This will allow all you Mesa users to have Instant Access buttons that act just like the footswitch channel selector switches.

The way we look at this is that the Instant Access buttons are there to always be the one thing they are programmed for... it would get incredibly confusing to try to keep track of what a button is going to do on stage if it changes function with each preset. The solution thus far for this is more Instant Access buttons. Again, a feature of v2 software will be the ability to add a second Ground Control Pro that is set up as two banks of 12 Instant Access buttons. There is also likely going to be a smaller add on unit that would add eight more Instant Access buttons, but that one is still only on paper right now so lets keep that between you and me... oops
...and by the way, your English is excellent!

Id like to learn more about that mod is it something I have to do myself? (I actually could if I had schematics) or I send my gcp to you and if so how much does it cost?
the group thing is great news. but I must say I really dig the 8 buttons update as another GCP would be too much and quite big for my rig. something I could clamp on the side would be so great. Id definitely buy one..
