GCX loop pop

Hi!

I recently purchased a used gcp with gcx version 1.01

However I noticed a pop sound when switching my loops on and off...

i run the gcp in 4 presets/ 8 ii mode.

i just got a fulltone fulldrive in loop 1, an xotic bb in loop 2, and a ocd in loop 3.
amp switching (budda superdrive) with out of loop 6, nothing else.
pop sound was the loudest when switching on loop 1 with the fulldrive.

is there anything i can do?

regards
Matthias

Are you using the buffer in the GCX? You can try routing the Guitar In buffer after the output of Loop 3 and the Input of your amp.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply...but I don't understand exactly what you mean...

could you please tell how to route the cables?

do you mean:

loop 3 out -> guitar in (front of gcx)
guitar out-> amp in

?

does that mean that i have to connect my guitar directly into loop 1 in ?

regards Matthias

This is a test...
1. Connect your guitar to the In of GCX loop 1.
2. Connect your pedals to the GCX loops as before.
3. Connect the Out of GCX loop 3 to the Guitar In on the front panel of the GCX.
4. Connect the rear panel Guitar Out to the instrument input of your amplifier.
5. Play your guitar and enjoy life for a little while.
6. Turn some pedals on and off while listening for a change to the popping.

7. Report back here with your findings.

OK so I tested a few things, (and enjoyed life playing the guitar ;-)...) but unfortunately nothing solved the pop issue...

1. I tried what you said.

2. I put a cable in gcx loop 1 in, then a cable directly from the send to the return and then a cable from gcx loop 1 out to amp in. (I did the wiring for my rack myself, therefore I only used cables i didn't solder myself for this test. So I think it couldn't be a cold solder or something similar in my selfmade cables...)

3. I tested with everything else in the rack turned off (it was only my pedal power and the stomp boxes)

4. I tested some of the other loops and they all poped a bit, but loop 1 was the loudest. The pop was even louder when I had loop 2 on (it runs a fulltone ocd) and then turned loop 1 on (it runs a fulldrive)

I have no pop when I change channels on my amp (loop 6 out -> amp channel switch in)

Do you have any other suggestions?

Best Regards Matthias

Did running the buffer after the loops make any difference at all?

Do you get the same pop when pressing the bypass switch on any of your true bypass pedals while the GCX loop controlling it is active?

Are you able to try this setup into the front end of a different amplifier?
