Amp channel switching via Pedal Switcher?

Does the Pedal Switcher have the ability of switching amp channels and effects with the loop functions? I've read in the manual of the Ground Control Pro that you can do this by connecting a cable to the "send" output of the GCX. Can you do the same with the pedal switchers "send"?
I have a Vox AC100CPH head, and want to switch channels and reverb on/off.
Wich product is the way to go, a Pedal Switcher+Commander or a GCP+GCX?

Thankful for any help.

Johan, you are correct. A GCX can change amp channels when it's wired like so:

A Pedal Switcher does not do this type of function because all of the loops are hard-wired together in series. A GCX has isolated loops as seen in the above pic. Your best bet is to go with a GCX/GC Pro for now.

However, there is another option if you want to do this in a Pedal Switcher and Commander setup. We have another product coming out soon that does exactly this type of switching and works in either a GCX or Pedal Switcher rig.

Check it out: http://www.voodoolab.com/controlswitcher.htm

James, thank you for your quick answer to my questions.
I am very impressed of Voodoo Lab, having this forum to interact with your customers and helping out in such a great way.

Furthermore, I have some additional questions.

On the pedal switcher that is yet to be released, the PX-8, is it possible to use buffered or "unbuffered" chains of effects, so you can separate the distortions from the modulations, as you can if you're using two PX-4? Or is there a way to connect some of the effects in front of the amp, and some in the loop?
Does Voodoo Lab have some kind of MIDI Tap Tempo momentary switch? Or do you recommend some other brand? I guess you can just connect that kind of tempo function after the last pedal switcher? Or does that mess up the MIDI signal?

And do you have any release date for the PX-8? Is it going to cost as much as two PX-4?

Many questions, I hope you have the time to answer them. I am very grateful for your help.

Regards,
Johan

The PX-8 buffer works the same way as the regular Pedal Switcher. There are 2 inputs. One patches through the buffer first and the other goes direct to the first loop. There is no way to insert the buffer between loops in a different location.

The PX-8 has an insert point between loops 6 and 7. You could use this to put loops 1-6 in front of the amp and loops 7-8 in the amp's effect loop. However, they will be on a common ground. If your effects are all powered from isolated supplies (separate adapters, batteries, or a Pedal Power) AND your amp has well designed internal grounding, it will work fine. If not, you may have noise issues.

The only solution we offer for doing tap tempo via MIDI is the Ground Control Pro. You can assign an instant access button to be momentary cc.

We don't have a firm release date for PX-8, but we're working hard on a lot of projects! The price will be less than buying two Pedal Switchers because it costs less to manufacture.

Thanks!

Josh

Any idea on when the release date of the px-8 will be this year? I believe several rigs are on hold waiting for it. Thanks very much

Hey James,

can you please confirm the following:

I'd like to switch the channel of my amp to "LEAD" and AT THE SAME TIME switch off a distortion pedal.
Setup: Amp in CLEAN channel boosted with distortion pedal -> switch to LEAD channel without distortion pedal (and vice-versa). Amp can be switched with a mono jack cable (Marshall Silver Jubilee 2550)

Is this possible with the combination of the Pedal Switcher and Control Switcher?

Cheers

ok just FYI since nobody seems to answer in this forum...

I solved my problem using this fine product http://www.lehle.com/products/D_Loop/in ... us&lang=en in combination with the control switcher. You need a special Midi-to-Stereo-Jack cable. I made one on my own, but you also can order one from Lehle.

Cheers

This would be possible with a Commander controlling a Pedal Switcher and a Control Switcher. The Commander would allow you to have ten presets that consist of any combination of Pedal Switcher loops as well as Control Switcher switches. A Commander can control an unlimited number of Pedal Switchers and Control Switchers.

Mistakes do sometimes happen when there is ONE person answering this forum... sorry

The Lehle D-Loop is likely a more simple setup for you in this case if you are only switching one amp function and one pedal. Burkhard is a very knowledgeable man and he makes some awesome products. I'm sure you will be quite happy with this setup!

Good Luck!
