Speaker Splitter Box

Post by Kev5150 »

Well I'm going to be using 2 tube heads, 2 4x12 cabinets without "extension" or "out" jacks. I'm using a device made by Radial called the HeadBoneVT head switcher. It allows you to A/B 2 heads into 1 cabinet. I prefer to use a fullstack in necessary (most) situations, the HeadBone offers only 1 output. Their tech told me to use my spkr cab's out, which I do not have (2x Marshall 1960B). They said to build a splitter box with heavy duty speaker wire. I'm not a tech, I do not know who to do this. Does anyone know of any existing products, or companies that could build said product? How bout anyone here...would anyone here be interested in building such a thing (VL? haha)

Thanks everyone,

Kev

Personally I would put a different jackplate in the cabs which permit you to add a second jack but that's me.

Otherwise, any (local) electrician worth his or her salt should be able to build you what you're asking for.

I have a similar situation...

I'm running a 1987X and an AVT50. I wanted to switch between the 2 heads and the full stack. The Voodoo folks helped me map out a way to run my entire effects chain to both heads. So basically with one click I can move everything from one set up to the other.

Except for those stink'n cabs.

In walks Pro Cables & Sound (got this tip on another forum). They have a Y cable for speaker cabs. Give them a look. When all was said and done they actually fab'd a switch box for me. The switching is done by hand, but is exactly what I needed. Todd is the owner and a really great guy.
