I am having trouble getting my line 6 M9 pedal to recognize my boss EV5 expression plugged into the ground control pro. the midi CC # for the line 6 is #1. my gcp is set to recognize the CC pedal. help!

I think you're getting MIDI CC and MIDI Channel confused. Nonetheless, more information is needed -

What parameter on the M9 are you wanting to control with the expression pedal?

In the Ground Control Pro, enter the Setup menu and select "Pedal" (button 3 on the top row). Verify that P1 is On and that your expression pedal is plugged in with a TRS cable into the Pedal 1 jack on the Ground Control Pro.

Within the M9, verify that it is set to receive on MIDI Channel 1.

Within the M9, verify that the parameter you want to control with the expression pedal is assigned to a CC number.

Call up the Ground Control Pro preset that you wish to use the expression pedal on. Enter the preset edit menu by holding the Edit button down until the GCP display changes. Bank down until you see "P1.000 CTL000". Verify that the Pedal CTL number matches the CC number that is assigned to the parameter within the M9 that you wish to control with the expression pedal. Cursor over one (bottom buttons 1 and 2 on the GCP) from the CC setting and verify that the pedal is assigned to the M9.
