Thanks to John & John I've ordered the eprom for my older GCX to bring it up to v2 which is required if you're adding a GCX and are going to chain them together. It's very inexpensive @ $20 per eprom chip and an easy swap out of the chip. The guys have been very helpful on the phone and here on the forum. You know you have an older GCX when during boot up the LED lights scroll from left to right. Each of my GCX's scroll in the opposite direction. So, they were built in very different manufacturing periods.
My GC Pro has an earlier 1.02 version firmware also. It's not necessary to update it to support multiple GCX's, but for $15, why not pop in the new chip.
I'll be adding in the stereo loop jacks on loops 5 through 8 on each of the two GCX's while it's apart. That's a little more involved but not too complex. If you can desolder & resolder and have common sense should be easy. Just don't crank down on the nut holding the jack in without holding onto the jack itself or you'll be trying to tear the jack off the board. That's common sense with any jack's external nut.
While these mods require a little work I think it shows how versatile this control setup is. Lots of equipment you buy just gets out of date and the manufacturer makes so many physical changes that it's not practical to maintain the orginal model. Not the case here. The current casing is a great & solid design and I made a good investment. The fact that I can order the parts and do it myself means no extended down time. A great option for me even though VL would do the work in a heartbeat. Thanks Voodoo Lab for supporting us users in the way.
And I hear that being able to daisy chain the GC Pro with a second GC Pro (with that GC Pro set to all instant access buttons) is coming down the pike soon. This is a great product line. I have Andy Timmons to thank for turning me onto this comany.

Thanks for the kind words!
I do have to point out that it is not actually necessary to mod the Ground Control Pro in order to control multiple GCX switchers. All software revisions of the Ground Control Pro have been able to control up to four GCX switchers right out of the box. It was only the original Ground Control that required v2 software and a memory upgrade in order to control more than one GCX.
Good Luck!
