GCX Loop Send question

Post by Iggster »

I have a GCX switcher and in loop 6, 7, 8, I'm sending mono signal to stereo effects from the "sends of each loop that then go into a line mixer and on to the rest of the rack. I have the in outs of each loop connected to the next as if they were receiving a return signal and the master out of the GCX is in the line mixer too. Each loop works individually, loop 6 and 7 also work together, but whenever 6 or 7 are engaged loop 8 is cut off, or seems to be bypassed. This doesn't make sense though because loop 6 and 7 sound together. Any ideas?

This makes no sense. Once you send from Loop 6.....7 and 8 should never see signal. Same with all the loops.....Once a loop is activated the send is sending signal elsewhere, in this case one of your fx units, and then into your line mixer, and then into your power amp I'm assuming.

Right, I was thinking the GCX was parallel as long as the in/out were connected, it is not? But I'm definitely seeing 6 and 7.

Something is seriously wrong then. I'm sure people will want to see your rig diagram, even though you explained it very well.....could you post an in depth schematic???

I figured it out! thanks for all the feed back. It had to do with how my Y cable was connected.

In order to do this sucessfully you would need a three way splitter that sends your mono source signal to the In jack of each of the three GCX Loops used. This will allow any combination of these three parallel effects to be on at any time.

I hope this helps!
