Fellas,
Just moved, so I had to unhook a lot of my rig. I'm now settled in to the new place (apartment ugh), but I'm completely blanking on how I had this whole thing wired up.
I'm gonna use this time to get better patch cables for it all, but need some direction in how to get from point A to point B right now.
I'm also still a little confused on where to use TRS (stereo?) cables and when to use "instrument" type cables for patching.
If someone could take a look at the pics and point out where each type would be used, that would be awesome.
Here's kind of what I'm after:
- A patch for muted signal with rack tuner only
- each traditional pedal in its own loop (chorus and delay in the amps fx loop, satchurator in front)
- channel switching controlled by gcp (think i got this part down)
- is there a way to hook my tremonti wah into the gcp instead of going back to the rack with another cable?
Thanks guys! I know it's a lot of questions, but it's been a while since I had it all together... but got myself into a new band!! so I'm excited right now! (as well as the new Alter Bridge album being awesome!)
Hopefully attached pics are working. (strict attachment rules! yikes.)

If I understand what you want to do correctly, here are some suggestions:satchaholic wrote:Fellas,

The first one is easy. Just pick a loop and run a cable from the chosen loop's Send jack to the Input of your tuner. Do NOT run a cable from the tuner back to the loop. No return signal = silent tuning.
On the back of the GCX, run the Guitar Out to the In jack of any loop. Connect this loop's Send & Return jacks to the Sarchurator, and Out jack to the Input of your pre-amp. That puts the Satchurator in front of the pre-amp.
Run a cable from your pre-amp's FX Send jack to the In jack of any loop. Connect this loop's Send & Return jacks to your chorus pedal and Out jack to the In jack of the next Loop in line. Connect this loop's Send & Return jacks to your delay pedal and Out jack to the FX Return jack on your pre-amp. That puts the chorus and delay (in that order) in the FX loop.
Channel switching is done by connecting a cable from either the Out or Send jack of a single loop to the foot switch jack on your preamp. If your existing foot switch has two buttons (i.e., Channel and Reverb) and uses a TRS plug to connect to your pre-amp, buy an insert cable and connect the TS plugs to two loops on your GCX. You'll have to determine which jacks (Out or Send) to use, and maybe swap loops to get them to control the desired functions the way you want.
If there is a way to connect a wah pedal, or any other device for that matter, to a GCP I am not aware of it. Hope this makes sense and helps out a bit.
For Sale: Original DMC GCX in Excellent Condition ($275) and a far more versatile SoundSculpture GL also in Excellent Condition ($1750). Free CONUS Shipping.

Ah cool!
Is there a way to have the FX loop always on, but have the pedals that are in the FX loop be independent of each other?
like all my time-based effects in the amp's FX loop, but not daisy chained directly to each other, but in their own loops?
I got the channel switching and tuner part setup now!
Still waiting on a few more cables and can test the rest.
