MIDI Chain order question.

Since I'm using an Egnater M4 preamp in my rig, which will provide phantom power to the GCP since you guys designed the switching system for it anyway, does it really matter where in the MIDI chain the GCX comes? From a physical layout, I'd almost prefer to have the M4 first, to make wiring a little easier, and to have one of my FX units be the master clock for the rest, since my Lexicon processor can do MIDI merge on the thru connector. Basically, the MIDI chain would be:
GCP -> M4 -> Lexicon MPXG2 -> Digitech IPS33b -> TC Electronic GMajor -> GCX.
Any reason why that wouldn't work?

Should be just fine.
Don't listen to me->The big difference is that you will need to use a 7-Pin MIDI cable if you have the M4 providing the phantom power<-Mostly totally untrue rather than a 5-Pin MIDI cable if you were to use the GCX.
Let us know if you run into any troubles!

Is there something that I'm missing then? Before I got the GCX, I was using the GCP with a standard 5 pin cable, getting phantom power from the M4, no problem. Is there some kind of conflict with a standard MIDI signal coming from the GCX?

Nope, it's me that was missing something... What I didn't realize is that the M4 has the ability to provide phantom power over a 5-Pin or a 7-Pin cable. The selection to enable power on pins 1 & 3 is made inside the preamp.
So basically, the guy (me) that actually likes to read user manuals just got caught not RTFM first!
Carry on... nothing to see here!
