I recently purchased a Line 6 POD HD Pro. Unfortunately some of my needs cannot be met with the current CCs and I am seriously considering finding something else. I am using the POD HD Pro for fx only and running via the 4 cable method (some fx before the preamp some in the amps loop). Is there another rackmount unit out there that will allow me to set up certain effects before my preamp and some in the fx loop (4 cable method) and be able to turn certain ones off and on withing a preset via CC#s or is there a reasonably priced unit that I could buy 2 of and put one before the pre and one in the amps fx loop? I'm willing to spend up to $600. I am using a Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro for all of my midi switching (presets, fx on/off, amp channel switching for my Bogner XTC). I love every Line 6 piece of gear I have had it's just the functionality of this unit will is lacking and not be capable of fulfilling my live needs until they possibly have a new update that would add that functionality and that could be months or years.

Check out the Lexicon MPX G2. It was made for 4 cable method. They can usually be found for around $300. I tested mine against a digitech GSP 1101, rocktron prophesy, and a TC GMajor. Even as old as it is, the MPX was noticeably more transparent than anything else. I've got mine set up as a virtual pedalboard with the GCP, and it works beautifully.
