4-5 pedals and one stereo rack effect. 2 amp heads, but I'm trying to use each preamp of the amps, switch between the two, and run them to the two power sections of the amps for a stereo spread. I've got how to run the rack effect, but how to run the pedals before the preamps has me a little stumped. My guess is...
Feed Thru-pedals-out of the last pedal into one preamp-into the IN of a loop. Out of the Guitar Out into the 2nd pre-into the Return of the same loop, then on to the rack effect.
Yes? No? Advice??
Thanks in advance-
Dday
Wiring advice for a GCX
Re: Wiring advice for a GCX
Where does the stereo rack unit sit in your signal chain?
Will the signal from your last pedal go into the Stereo FX Unit with the Left and Right Outputs feeding your two preamps, or will you split the signal from the last pedal and run it to both preamps and then run the two preamp Outputs to the Left and Right inputs of the Stereo FX Unit?

pedals-preamps-rack unit-power sections of amps. Basically the same as you would do with a single amp with an fx loop.

That makes things rather simple, then, with the only question remaining being, will it be 4 or 5 pedals?Dday wrote:pedals-preamps-rack unit-power sections of amps. Basically the same as you would do with a single amp with an fx loop.
For example purposes, let's say you have 4 pedals and they are all mono. You would run the pedals in series in the first four GCX loops by connecting the individual loop's Send/Return Jacks to the Pedal In/Out jacks and connecting the adjoining loop's In/Out jacks with short jumper cables. Place the pedals in whatever order they sound best to you.
You'll need to run a splitter or mono Y-cable - do not use an insert cable - from the Out of Loop 4 to the Inputs of Loops 5 & 6 and then run cables from the Send jacks of Loops 5 & 6 to the Inputs of Preamps 1 & 2. Activating Loops 5 & 6 individually or together will let you choose between the two preamps or run them both simultaneously.
Last but not least, run cables from the Preamp Outputs to the In jacks of Loops 7 & 8, and connect the Loop 7 & 8 Out jacks to each respective preamp's power amp section. Connect the Send/Return jacks of Loops 7 & 8 to the Left and Right channel Ins and Outs of the stereo rack unit. Activating Loops 7 & 8 will add the stereo FX to your signal chain, while deactivating these two loops will bypass the rack unit.
This should serve as a good starting point, and you can tweak from there. Let us know how you make out...
