Lexicon MPX 1 bypass

Hi,

I did a search, but could not find the answer to my question. I hope someone can help. I am using a new GCP/GCX along with a Lexicon MPX 1 rev. 1.1.

I have loops 4-6 setup to xmit w/preset to the lexicon's corresponding effect bypass cc notes. When I have the GCP setup for a 4 bank operation, it works just fine both when using the instant access buttons as well as programming a preset.

Unfortunately, it does not work in a 10 bank arrangement. The bypass buttons on the MPX 1 continuously toggle on and off. Do I need to do something different in the GCP? The MPX 1? Or is this something that only works in the 4 bank scenario?

Thanks for your time,

-Chris

I think you are mixing up GCX Loops with Ground Control Pro Instant Access buttons. Only 4 Presets per Bank mode has Instant Access buttons. If you are going to use 10 Presets per Bank mode then you will need to recall a new MPX-1 patch whenever you want to change the active effects. Let us know if that didn't clear things up.

I understand John. Thanks for clarifying. Is there anyway to setup the GCPRO to send midi cc's instead of program change info while using the 10 bank presets?

The lexicon has a 1 second delay when switching patches, making it not practical to use during a live performance.

Thanks again for your help,

-Chris

On the Ground control Pro, you can activate an unused GCX and use its CC numbers to control individual effect bypass. If your processor will allow you to program the CC number, and is able to receive these messages on MIDI channel 16, then this will work for you. I am not sure about how to do this on an MPX-1. I see that it will learn the CC number for an effect but I don't know if it can receive this message on a different channel than the Program Change Messages. If you enable GCX #2 within Setup Mode, you will be able to send CC 88-95 on MIDI channel 16.
You will also want to disable GCX-2 on each Ground Control Pro preset so it will not send the CC messages for all 8 loops/effects with each preset. A disabled GCX will have parenthesis around it when you are in Edit Preset.
