8 amp setup...its alive and a thank you

Post by boogie1 »

a few years ago i posted on an odd setup with seven heads that could be used independently or together. I have two gcx and a ground control, two amp switchers, chandler tube driver, lexicon, boogie dual rec, 5150, laney vh100, marshall dsl, orange and two randall rm 50s with different modules. I finally got off my ass and got all the cables and whatnot.. i looked at my old post where Mr Clark gave me a good bit of advice...I finally got it wired (which was easier than I thought it would be), fired it up and.. ..Holy God...two amps channels running a clean stereo ...then each dirty amp can come into the mix one at a time to combine all 7 or all at once..the tonal differences in the amps make for one Badass brutal heavy tone...plus the different channels on each amp give me any type tone i could ever want...and for seven tube heads running at once, no hum other than what you would get with tube heads(thank goodness for the ground breaks on the 2 amp switchers).
My biggest worry was all the cabinets I would have to run..but 4 4x12s in stereo mode took care of that (basically 8 2x12s) This is my dream rig finally come to life...Thank you to John Clark for being patient with me and helping me understand how the gcx works and what it does and does not do...setup works like a charm..yes it is big an heavy and not very practical, but I like it.
