Hi all
I have spent the last couple of days fighting against MIDI (or so it felt). Yes, I'm a complete noob. I've been playing a Diezel Herbert MKII for about 2 years now and just came by a second one. My vision is to have a stereo rig with:
Diezel Herbert + Diezel Cab (Left)
Diezel Herbert + Orange Cab (Right)
Rack with: GCX Switcher, Korg DTR1000, Strymon Timeline, MXR Stereo Chorus, T-Rex Michael Angelo Overdrive
Ground Control Pro
I've been busy buying stuff over the last 16 years and I now do have all the equipment ready. What I lack is KNOWLEDGE!
Fundamental question: is it possible to choose between left amp, right amp AND/OR both amps at the same time with the GCPro and GCX while always using the Timeline (which is in the FX-loops of both amps)? Because this is my main goal... I have found a worksheet which I adapted to my equipment. Could anyone help me to get this done? I'm more than struggling...
Thanks & cheers
EDIT: This chart is incorrect as the MXR Stereo Chorus does not have L/R inputs, only outputs. It actually splits the signal! Sorry for that!
2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline

BAM! You got it right!
Now plug them cables in, fire up them tubes, and warn the neighbors... it's gonna get loud!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Thanks JohnClark, I'm glad I got that right then!! And it does work. Phew. Sound is of course amazing and simply WHOA!
Now the real problem: programming. As mentioned above I'm a midiot.
I'm afraid I haven't quite understood how everything communicates together. Do I have to set the Diezels and Timeline to a specific channel first?
So far I have only ever worked with the ProStage X07 which worked great for me (also with two Herberts) but that is basically where my abilities with Midi end...
Well, I'll be trying to get it done for the next few hours and I'll report back.
Thanks and happy Easter!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Each MIDI Device should be assigned to its own MIDI channel. The amps can probably share the same channel if you always want them to go to the same amp-channel.
Just start off with the Device Name/Channel section under Setup Mode in the Ground Control Pro manual. That has everything you need to get your amps and Timeline listening for Program Changes.
Let us know if you get stuck!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Sorry for being back here this late - as we spent most of the time recording I did not need to built up the whole rig until now.
What I have now, though, is a major hum as soon as I try to get my guitar signal from the "guitar in" to the two Herberts via the split output of the GCX. I figure this is a ground loop...? I don't have it with a Lehle splitter - why can't the GCX handle this?!? I thought it was really made for such a set-up? Do I need a Furman to improve this? Or an ebtech hum eliminator?
Thanks for your help, guys!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Update: I got rid of the hum with a radial DI on one of the Diezels. All quiet now...!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Sorry for missing your question!
The problem was most certainly due to having the audio ground connected to both amp inputs at once. Using an isolation transformer before one of the amps is the common way to go, so right on man!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Hey thanks for getting back to me!!
Soon my rack case for both amps will arrive... I am pretty sure after having installed everything inside that pretty thing I'll be back to new and different hums and noises. Expect me back here anytime soon
Until then: THANK YOU!
