Pin Out for GCX power socket

Post by wingedmonkey »

Hi Voodoo People,

I've got a GCX here with no powersupply. I have a generic 9vac 1ma powersupply with a barrel connector on it. I'd like to made an adaptor with a barrel socket on one end and suitable 4 pin din on the other.

Can someone give me an idea of the pin out for the din plug? How the pins are wired? Thanks

The two pins to the right of the dimple are one side of the AC and the two pins to the left of the dimple are the other side of the AC. Let us know how this works out.

p.s. I hope you mean 1A rather than 1mA  big difference!

Thanks for the response. Just to make it clear in my mind. Looking at the image I attached - if I connect one wire to the 1 and 2 pins, and the other wire to the 3 and 4 pins - it will be ok? Does it matter where the positive is attached?

(and yes - meant 1A - sorry about that :) )

Yes, pins 1 and 2 would be one side and pins 3 and 4 would be the other side. This is AC so there is no polarity to worry about. Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I wish I could have found this forum years ago, there is some amazing / priceless info on here.

Q: Is the 4 pin DIN power plug on the GCX PSU a generic type? Or is it a specific plug made for Voodoo Lab?

I have just purchased another GCX but it is coming to me from the US, the GCX PSU's are damn expensive here in the UK but I figured I could build a PSU so long as I can find the correct power plug.

Help.....

E

The GCX uses a standard 4 pin DIN connector for the power connection. Thanks for participating on our forum!
