Hello,
I am looking for a beat indicator to play live, to be able to start the song at the right tempo.
I am using a ground control pro and a GCX Audio Switcher.
I found the Midi Solution Beat Indicator on the internet
http://www.midisolutions.com/prodbti.htm
I would like to set a tempo value for each preset on the GCP and send it to the Beat indicator, this way when I will recalling a preset I will have the good Tempo value on the Beat indicator.
Do you think it would be possible ?
thank you
Antoine

The Beat Indicator simply responds to MIDI Clock data. If you do not have a MIDI Clock source, it will not do anything for you. What is your MIDI Clock source?
If you don't already have a MIDI Clock source, I think the
Tempode from Molten Voltage would be what you are looking for as well as provide you with a global Tap Tempo button.
By the way, what are the MIDI devices you hope to ultimately control with MIDI Clock?

Thanks John,
I don't really need a midi clock for my midi device. I am just using a strymon Timeline for the delay but sometime I don't want the delay to be at the same tempo of the song.
I would like to have a visual tempo just to start the song at the right tempo, and It would be great if I would be able to program it with each different preset. And if it could be used for a tap tempo for the Strymon, that could be a plus but it's not my first goal.
It seems that the Tempode will do that for me, but what about the connections ?
If I have to plug the gcp midi out to the Tempode midi in, how will the GCX power the GCP ?
thanks again.

Hello,
I finally purchase the Tempode But I have a hard time to make it works as I would like to.
Here is what I would like to do :
When I will be recalling a preset on my ground control pro, I would like to send a program change to the tempode to have the right " visual "tempo on it.
So, I set up the Tempode and the ground control pro on the midi channel 15 and it's my 6th midi device, after the vulcano, the Lhele dual, tc helicon voice works, srtymon time line, ipad( midi rig).
I succeed to store all the tempo programs that I need in the tempode and recalling it manually with the ground control pro.
I mean when you programming the preset in the ground control pro, Where you choose all the "program change" you want to send to your different midi device ( volcano, Time line, tc voice work,..Tempode,.. etc ).
When I am selecting a program of the Tempode, The tempode receive the program change and change te tempo as It should.
Then I store all the presets in my ground control pro with the right tempo on the right preset ( on the Ground control pro and on the tempode).
But when I want to recall a preset on my ground control pro, the tempode is not following it. and it seems to go back to the initial tempo, 120 bpm.
To have the right tempo, I have to go back within the preset and jump back and for on the tempode preset, and then it shows me the right tempo.
What am I doing wrong ? Is the place of the midi device in the midi chain is important ( within the ground control pro) ?
thank you
Antoine

It sounds as if perhaps the Tempode is attempting to respond to Program Changes you intend to send to your other MIDI devices. You should make sure the Tempode is set to receive only on MIDI Channel 15, and that no other device named in the Ground Control Pro has MIDI Channel 15 assigned.
Another thing to check is that no Instant Access buttons or Expression Pedals are set to use MIDI Channel 15.
I hope that helps!

Hello John,
thanks for your answer.
The Tempode can only use the midi channel 1 or 15, I set it up on the 15 channel only.
In my midi setup :
volcano- midi channel 1
Lehle dual- midi channel 2
TC helicon- midi channel 3
Time line- midi channel 4
Irig midi (iPad)- midi channel 5
and finally Tempode midi channel 15
I am using a GCX on the 4 presets set-up with 8 control loops and a control switcher as a second GCX.
My expression pedal is always set to control the volcano on channel 1.
The tempode seems to receive something because it goes on "auto-start mode when I am selecting a preset but it doesn't change the tempo ( like it couldn't find the right program), it stay on the 120 bpm default setting.
But when I turn it on, I see that it's on the tempo of the first program, and as soon as I choose a preset, it goes back to 120;

What happens if you recall a Ground Control Pro preset, then set and save the tempo on the Tempode?
1. Recall a Ground Control Pro preset that is supposed to work with the Tempode.
2. Tap the desired tempo on the Tempode.
3. Wait a few seconds then press-and-hold the Tempo button on the Tempode.
4. After a few seconds the LED on the Tempode should turn solid Yellow. Does this happen?
5. Release the Tempo button and the LED on the Tempode should flash between Red and Yellow eight times to indicate a successful save. Does this happen?
Let us know what you find!

So I try to do the way you told me.
It works ......
but for only 2 presets.
It always remember the tempo of the first preset.
I can store a second preset and jump between the first one and the second one.
But once I try to store a third one, it replace it with the third one. I still can always recall the first one. So now, I can jump between the first and the third one, but the second disappears.
I only need one tempo per bank ( because a bank = a song), So before storing any tempo value on the tempode, I chose a program number ( for the tempode) on the first preset of each bank of the ground control.
bank 0 - tempode program for preset 0-1 = 01
Bank 1 - tempode program for prest 1-1 = 02
etc...
This way, I shouldn't erase any tempode program ?

The three Ground Control Pro presets you tested with would each need a unique Program Change number assigned for the Tempode. Did two of these presets have the same Program Change number assigned when you look in the Edit Mode?
If the tempo is the same in each bank, then yes, you should be able to use a different number per Bank to get what you want with the same number programmed for all four Presets with in a Bank.

no, it has a different program change number .
It seems that the tempode recognize preset 01, and all the others are 02 , even if I store it in 03 ,04 , etc...
But when I am in the Edit mode in the ground control, and I chose a Tempode preset, the Tempode show me the right tempo for that preset. And so for all the Tempode presets I've been store before. So I save the Ground control preset, and when I recall it...
I don't have the right tempo
I also try to use the midi channel 1 instead of the midi channel 15, same thing .
I even try only with the ground control pro and the tempode together, with no other midi device, same thing too.
