Peavey 6505+ + GCX + Ground Control Pro

So I've finally made the jump and decided to get a midi system and went with the GCX and GCP. However I know I need some sort of special cable or something to connect it to my 6505+ head. Where do I go about getting one?
As a side note, how does the GCX work with effects loops? I need to run some pedals (delay, reverb, chorus) in my effects loops and others in front of the amp (ISP Decimator, TS9, Compression). Can I do both? How?

have you read the manual, at all?
the 6505+ needs no special cable (that i'm aware of). Just use a Y cable to split off to two jacks on the GCX and the other single TRS end into your 6505+. [for your channel/effects relays]
the effects loops is the easy part and is what the GCX was meant to do. connecting all of that is in the manual. It's easy. It's about a 10-15mninute read-through, if that.

Well I don't have the handbook as I bought it used but I'm sure I can find it online. I was under the impression that in order to switch channels on a 6505+ you needed a special cable because the 6505+ doesn't have a midi input. You need a 7 pin din cable for the footswitch and I think you need a special 7 pin/something for the GCX.

well, aren't I the one with the egg on my face....
i was thinking about the 6505/5150
yes, you'd need a breakout cable to make it work.
other than getting hold of that cable, it's all very straightforward in making the GCX switch the amp.
you could probably make the cable as well, if you're confident with your soldering skills.
EDIT: Voodoo makes a controller that has that same 7pin din input that would work as well. bu that's another device on top of the GCX.
i'd just find/make the cable.

You can download a GCX User's Guide here.
I would also suggest you check with Voodoo Lab Customer Support to see if they may be able to help you acquire the breakout cable you need. Otherwise, depending on your own soldering skills, you could ask Peavey for a pin-out diagram and construct a cable yourself by cutting one end off a 7-pin MIDI cable and attaching the requisite TS connectors. The TS connectors will go into either the Send or Out jacks of individual GCX Loops, depending upon what type of switching function (Latching or Momentary) is required.
Also, at the bottom of this page, you will find a number of diagrams showing various rig configurations. I think Diagram 5 will be a good starting point for you, with regard to how you should make your connections.
Hope this helps...
