Hey there - I need some help. Basically, I don't understand all the midi terms and I'm stressed out 'cause I don't know how to setup my control switcher to my setup.

Here is my setup.

Ground Control Pro --> Gmajor (not the Gmajor II) --> control switcher --> 5150 III (100 watt).

I ordered the correct cable from voodoo labs and have my Gmajor setup correctly...I just don't know where to start to setup the control switcher to change channels on my 5150 III.

I'm trying to get the GCP configured where I step on button 9 it will go to my rhythm, 0 to go to my lead channel, channel 5 to my clean channel, and mix and match from there.

I'm a newbie and after reading the manual I realize that I lack any of the midi/technical vocabulary IQ needed to effectively navigate everything correctly.

Anyone able to give me "laymen" instructions .

First off, does the amp respond when you push the buttons on the Control Switcher itself?


If that is working, then getting the rig set up to respond to MIDI should be fairly easy. Here are some basic steps you'll want to follow before trying to create presets...

1. Make sure to use the MIDI Thru on the G-Major to connect to the MIDI In on the Control Switcher.
2. On the Ground Control Pro, enable GCX #1. Steps on how to do this are found in the Expanders section under Setup Mode in the Ground Control Pro manual.

Once that is done the Control Switcher will respond as if it were Loops 1-4 on GCX #1. You can look to the Controlling the GCX Guitar audio Switcher section under Edit Preset in the Ground Control Pro manual for how to set these switches with your Ground Control Pro presets.

I had to work late tonight but I did at least verify that I can push the buttons on the control switcher and change the amp's channels. I wanted to play around the GCP but the kiddos are alseep and the room is next to theirs so it'll be tomorrow night before I can try. So far though it's working when I push the red buttons..hey that's a start .

I think I'm close but I still can't get my GCP to change the 5150 III amp channels although I do have the control switcher set to momentary mode with Pulse On. I can push the buttons on the control switcher and they properly change the channels from clean, rhythm, lead.

What I can't figure out is how to assign the channels to the corresponding switches on the ground control pro.

Here is what I'm trying to do.

Switch 1 - Set to Amps Rhythm channel
Switch 2 - Set to Amps Rhythm channel
Switch 3 - Set to Amps Rhythm channel
Switch 4 - Set to Amps Clean channel
Switch 5 - Set to Amps Rhythm Channel
Switch 6 - Set to Amps Rhythm channel
Switch 7 - Set to Amps Rhythm channel
Switch 8 - Set to Amps Clean channel
Switch 9 - Set to Amps Rhythm channel
Switch 0 - Set to Amps Lead channel

I have the Gmajor setup correctly with the Ground Control Pro (It's setup is basic plug and play I guess). I just can't figure out how to setup my Ground Control Pro to select the proper channel when I step on a switch. I did try to follow the instant access instructions on the GCP manual but I got lost and had to reset everything back to factory settings a few times then start over.

Could you point me in the right direction? I really do appreciate the help!!

Seems I did something wrong. When I got home I plugged everything back in and now the control switcher is not on monetary pulse/on mode. I had to reconfigure that twice today and it seems to revert back to basic monetary...I'm all confused.

So I'm not sure where to begin again...

Is there a time when you can give us a call while you are with the rig? We are here from 9-6 Pacific and can probably walk you through this a bit better over the phone.

It's been awhile but I figured I would post what I did...after talking to Voodoo Labs it was determined that I needed to reset the GCP back to factory settings as I had configured the GCP to work with an amp that was midi capable. So by resetting back to factory settings I was then able to get the control switcher to talk correctly to the GCP.
