To all,
Happy to be here. I am new to all the gear but I think I have a good setup going now - Lexicon MX400 with a Ground Control Pro. I am learning to use everything (for guitar).
On page 18 of the GCPro manual, it has a section about "System Mix Plus VCA". I don't know what VCA is so I am asking...
Any answers?
Thanks much,
Jeff S.

VCA?
Re: VCA?
VCA is a Voltage Controlled Amplifier, which in this case was a feature of the long discontinued System Mix Plus. It was a programmable volume control that could be routed anywhere in your rack controlled via MIDI. Unless you are using a System Mix Plus, there is probably nothing you could use the VCA settings within the Ground Control Pro for. All this setting really does is to set an expression pedal to the proper MIDI channel and Controller number automatically since we made both devices.

John and others willing to help,
Have you received information about issues getting an expression pedal to work with the GC Pro to control a Lexicon MX400 effects processor? It appears the GCPro is set up and "reading" the pedal as the 000-127 numbers change when I move the pedal. I am using a 1/4 inch TRS stereo cable. The GCPro and Lexicon are set up on Midi channel 1 and I can control program changes with the GCPro.
It seems the problem lies somewhere in the Control Numbers (or channels - I don't know if channel is the right term to use with a control number). The Lexicon does not appear to be able to change control number routings. The MIX, which is what I am trying to get the expression pedal to control, is numbers 26 & 27 in the CC Map in the back of the Lexicon manual. I changed the ctl number in the Edit (for this patch) menus to 26 - still nothing.
Very confused and so is my instructor who is the head of the NYU guitar department, has his own recording studio, and uses a regular ground control 2.5 with a similar Lexicon effects processor.
Any thoughts here?
Thanks again,
Jeff

Re: VCA?
According to the MX400 manual it would require data sent on both CC26 and CC27 concurrently. I suppose you could accomplish this with a stereo volume pedal connected to both Expression Ports on the Ground Control Pro. P1 within the preset would be set to send CC26 and P2 would be set to send CC27. You could even set them up on two MIDI channels by listing the MX400 as device 1 and 2 within the Ground Control Pro. The MX400 manual references this as channel A and channel B when using the Dual Stereo configuration. This dual channel and dual CC number configuration is quite strange and certainly uncommon, but you should be able to configure the Ground Control Pro to accomplish this.
