GCX SETUP FOR MULTIPLE PRE AMPS, MULTIPLE POWER AMPS??

Is it possible to set up the GCX to switch between 2 different pre amps, into 2 different power amps, into one bottom??

this is what I am using..

1) Mesa Boogie Triaxes Pre Amp
2) ADA MP 1 Pre Amp

3) Lexicon MPX 500

4) Mesa Boogie 20/20 Power Amp

5) Mesa Boogie 50/50 Power Amp


I would like to be able to switch between the 2 Pre Amps and also be able to select which Power Amp the Signal goes to...
I was thinking I could use the "Stereo" outputs and direct each side separately to a Loop which would then be sent as an out to the "stereo" In's of the Power amps.......

something like that.......anyway...any help to see if this is possible would be great.....

The GCX will not allow you to switch which power amp is feeding the speaker cabinet. With two cabinets, one for each power amp, this setup could be done with 3 GCX loops total. One loop to A/B the outputs of the preamps, a second loop to bypass the processor, and a third loop to A/B the power amp inputs. This would allow either preamp to feed either power amp, with or without effects.

ok so you say if I used 2 separate bottoms I could use the 2 power amps....with the 2 pre amps.....I can do that.....

Are there any Diagrams that show how to set up the loops....

to A/B the pre amps and the power amps.....

Using GCX loops as A/B switches is described in the GCX manual under the Audio Loops section. Example 1 shows how to switch the outputs of two preamps and Example 2 would be appropriate for switching between Power Amp inputs.

Thank You John for getting back to me so quickly...... I will give this a try and get back to you and let you know how I make out.....really looking forward to getting the most out of my setup......

I have had my GCX and GCP for about 6 or 7 years now and always looked for new ways of doing things..... I love this forum....this has got to be one of the best things you guys have done with your web site.........it makes it so much easier for us users to discuss different setups and explore new options for equipment..................
