GCP not switching GCX loop as expected

I think the GCP and GCX are setup correctly. I am wondering if I got a bad GCX.

I have all of the GCX patches set to Normal and not momentary in the GCP setup.

I have the GCP and GCX talking to each other without issue. The programmed presets work as entered for each patch with the selected loops active and switching channels on the Mesa as expected.

My issue is this, I can't figure out how to turn off the loops on the GCX once a patch has been selected. The preset GCX assignments work as I mentioned. When I edit the patches to enable or disable the loops, they work as expected. After I save the patch, the buttons for the loops do not turn the GCX loop on or off.

I have loop 8 set for the boost on my Mesa Mark V. When I call up the patch, the GCP button does not turn the GCX loop on and off. I see the midi signal going to the GCX, but the loops do not run on or off. Editing the specific patch in the GCP, I can turn the GCX loop on or off without issue. After saving, the buttons do not turn on or off the GCX loops.

I don't want to have to return this unit. :(

Please help!

Turning off any loops that are active within a preset after calling up said preset should simply be a matter of pressing the appropriate IA button. However, if you have GCX Loop 8 set to turn the Boost On and Off on your Mesa, Loop 8 itself is not going to turn On or Off on your GCX. You should have a single Mono cable running from either the Out (Normally Open) jack or the Send (Normally Closed) jack of Loop 8, depending on what type of switch your Mesa is expecting. Hitting IA Button 8 on your GCPro shouldl turn the Boost On or Off on the amp but that's it. GCX Loop 8 will NOT turn On or Off, nor will any other loop on your GCX that's being used for switching purposes.

Thanks for the reply. I have the correct cabling installed. I mentioned that the mesa switches when editing the patch on the GCP. So I know I have what is supposed to be there to make it happen.

As a test, I reset the memory on the GCP. I am able to get the GCX switching as expected. I guess there is an issue with the GCP programmed with the sweetwater setup for the Eleven Rack. Need to figure out what is clashing and remove that issue.

Gonna go through a few iterations with this to see what I can come up with. I appreciate the time you took to reply. :)

I got it working. It turns out that the loop designation in the instant access was blanked out for all loop designations. I manually assigned them to the appropriate loop on the GCX and all is much better now. :) Got what I need so far now.

I daresay that was a result of you re-setting the memory on your GCPro, but glad to hear you're up and running.

The aha moment was when I reset the GCP. I then reloaded the problem GCP SYX fro Sweetwater and got the same issue. Reading the manual, I noticed that there were designations in the 'LOOP' specification but not on my GCP. Once I figured that, all was good. I have had the GCP for a couple months now and that was the first time I reset the memory. It was a brand new unit when I bought it, so no GCX info was in there at all.

Maybe the v2.0 firmware, promised several years ago, will be able to se those parms automagically like the manual states. ;)
