Hey all, new here a few questions

Post by Gambit »

So I was thinking of getting two pedal switches and controlling them along with some rack effects with the ground control pro. I also was interested in being able to use my amps simultanously so I am going to get the amp switcher.

With the ground control pro, it says it can use 8 midi devices simultaniously and has 8 assignable inserts.

I dont know a lot about midi but I'm guessing that means I can use 8 Midi Effects in my rack?

For the 8 assignable inserts does that mean I can only use 8 total different combinations or 8 at a time without changing the bank? I would think the latter.

Also how many of those "midi devices" would be eaten up by the 2 pedal switchers? Only two I hope.

I dont know a lot about midi so I'm trying to put the pieces together here.

thanks guys!

The Ground Control Pro can control up to 8 MIDI devices as well as up to 4 GCX switchers. MIDI devices in this case would be effect processors and the like. Pedal Switchers act as if they were 1/2 of a GCX when used with the Ground Control Pro. So in addition to the MIDI devices, you could control up to 8 Pedal Switchers (or any combination of GCX, Pedal Switchers, and Control Switchers that equals up to 32 loops/switches). There are up to 200 presets on a Ground Control Pro. A single preset will send the 8 unique Program Change messages for the MIDI devices as well as set up to 32 switcher loops/switches to the correct state.

Thanks so much for the reply John.

I am buying 2 pedal switchers and the ground control pro definitely....

I am also interested in being able to use three amps at once, a Marshall, a Mesa and an Orange. I would like the option of being able to use either all three or combinations, I know the amp switcher can do this.

Is the benefit of having the control switcher that you can control which amps go on and off with a GCP?

Thanks again John, I am new to all of this. Not a VOODOO lab customer yet but I will be soon.

The Amp Selector will allow you to turn on any combination of your three amplifiers. If you want to do this via MIDI presets, then you would actually want to use a GCX to switch the amplifiers on or off.

The Control Switcher will control the amp footswitch functions like channel select, reverb, and solo boost.
