remote control of GCP (?)

Hello all;
Has anyone ever tried using a (small) MIDI foot controller to instantly access specific presets on the Ground Control Pro remotely? For the sake of this discussion, the GCP is in the 10 preset per bank mode. What I'm saying, is hitting a preset button on the first controller to instantly recall, for example, preset #31 (Bank 3) on the GCP from any other preset that the GCP might have been on (like #14, bank 1)... or any other example like that.
What I'm trying to achieve is to use 10 presets per distortion type (all with different effects) and the ability to access any specific preset in any bank without having to use the scrolling feature of the GCP.
This might seem like a bit much but this is actually what I need my MIDI to do.
Currently using MIDI as follows... Voodoo labs equipment....
Commander switching 2 pedal switchers (on pedal board). A GCP controlling a GCX and G Major 2 in the rack.
I have tried using the Commander into the GCP for controlling the first 10 presets but that is not nearly enough flexibility.
Any takers on this issue?

The Ground Control Pro does allow using MIDI Program Change messages to recall its presets remotely. Virtually any MIDI controller can be used to do this... even a second Ground Control Pro
I hope that helps!

Thanks, John;
It's fairly obvious the way you described it. So, taking a MIDI anything with presets of it's own can direct the GCP to exactly where you need it to be? (In any preset on any bank.)
So MIDI controller preset 1 can send a cc message to the GCP to call up bank 4, preset 2. (for example)
If that works this way, does the controlling controller have to be SYSex?
I was thinking a basic MIDI pedal such as Tech 21 MIDI moose or something like that.

The Presets on the Ground Control Pro are programmed to be recalled in numerical order. So Program Change 01 will recall the first preset, and Program Change 05 will recall the fifth preset... on thru the list. If you are going to leave the Ground Control Pro in 10 Presets per Bank mode then the Program Change match the Ground Control Pro Preset number.
I hope that helps!

Oh I see
So the outboard controller sending preset changes to the GCP can only do so in the fashion that the GCP itself works. In 10 preset mode, sending preset #1 to the GCP will in turn be recognized as preset #1 on the GCP... and #5 sent will into the GCP will be #5 on the GCP. There's no advanced method possible of commanding the GCP to skip to any point in any bank without recalling the same bank and preset on the sending controller.
I guess that's a bit limiting but I suppose there's always a workaround. I typically use the GCP in 5 different sound modes in the 4 preset per bank option. It isn't that difficult to call up presets by scrolling and then engaging the preset, although, it would be great to have the option of instant access worked into it's operating
system.
In any case, thanks for your help John... that solved whether it was possible to do that kind of functioning.

Well, if your controller will only increment/decrement thru the Program Changes, then yes you would have the same functionality as the +/- buttons... Sorry I didn't quite follow what you were chasing.
If your controller is capable of programming which Program Change is sent, then you would be able to do what you are looking for. However, I guess I'm not quite sure why you can't simply lay out your Ground Control Pro presets in the order that you are looking to "Instant Access" thru them?
Many people set up their presets in a "Song per Bank" sort of mode, where each preset within the bank is a part of the song. This allows you to just step up thru the presets and only have to use the Bank Up/Down buttons to go to the next song.

I suppose that laying it out in presets of 4 per bank (per song) would be the way to go. I've done it for several songs that we do and works fine. Having the instant access buttons to add in a touch of spice is great. Good for a structured song list that doesn't deviate much.
If I could place my different drive pedals as "always on"-in-Instant Access so that I could cycle through presets without disengaging them each time, and leaving the myriad of flavors (effects) to the 4 preset banks....Then cycle through the presets as needed... that would be interesting.
I'll have to leave this topic to what I can do... and leave the variations to what I might discover down the road.
Thanks for the insight... John.
