assigning midi CC to instant access and setting start point

Using the GCP to control an Eventide H9 and a TC electronics D two rack delay. I figured out how to set cc's to 2 of the 3 open instant access switches I have available in the 4 preset 8 IA mode. My question now is, while setting up presets, is there a way to configure a preset, with the H9 and Rack delay already in bypass mode by default, and hit the IA assigned to the CC to activate the effect, or vice versa for the presets I want the effects active from the get go on? currently no matter what I have tried, they will both start off active, and I have to hit the IA I've assigned the cc message to bypass.

If you set the two Instant access buttons to "Transmit with Preset" then you will be able to program them to send the appropriate Control Change data when recalling a preset.
Simply recall a preset, press the Instant Access buttons so they are in the desired state, then go into the Edit Mode and exit to save the Instant Access buttons with the current preset.
Let us know if you get stuck!

Thanks John, so I set two IA's both to the bypass command on the d two (there is no activate midi cc for it) . Clicked on the ia to enter edit and saved... I can now get it to switch presets straight into bypass , but if I press an IA to activate the delay then switch to another preset it either works and goes to bypass or I have to double click the preset to get it to bypass. I set not cc messages in IA config to send with preset also... Am I doing something wrong? Or is this just the way it has to be since the d two doesn't have an activate cc?

Is the next preset in your example programmed to "enable" Bypass?
Once you turn on "Transmit with Preset" for the Instant Access button controlling the Bypass, each preset will either activate or bypass the D-Two. It is a decision you have to make when creating each preset... "should the D-Two be On or Off when this preset is recalled?"

yes... the D Two is not running into the GCX, it is just being controlled via MIDI since I am running it in a stereo WDW set up. I programmed IA 7 and 8 the same.... both programmed to activate bypass on the D Two , and both set to send the CC with the preset. The D Two only has the option to activate bypass with cc - 20 , so when IA 7 and 8 are set to both send CC 20 with the preset. It sounds like what I am missing is a cc to send with the preset to activate the D two. The D two doesn't have a midi cc mapped to activate it, only to by pass it, and pressing the IA once will bypass, pressing again takes it off bypass.

Only one Instant Access button should be set to use Control Change 20... having both of them set the same could be what is causing some issues. For instance if one is programmed to be On with a Preset while the other one is set to be Off, the Ground Control Pro will try to send both messages at once and the D-Two will likely react inconstantly.
A Control Change message also has a data value associated with it. In this case the Ground Control Pro sends a Data Value of 0 when the Instant Access LED is Off, and a Data Value of 127 When the Instant access LED is On. This is how you are able to use this button to Activate or Bypass the unit. There does not need to be a second Control Change message since this one already does the trick... it turns "Bypass" On or Off.

let me erase the second cc 20 and test it

just adjusted and tried, here is what is happening... I set preset 2 to send the bypass message and channel 3 to not. when I step on preset 2 it goes into bypass, and when I go to preset 3 it stays in bypass unless I double press the preset 3 button, then it will go out of bypass... when it is out of bypass, and step back on preset 2, it stays out of bypass unless I press preset 2 twice, and then it goes into bypass... it is like the message isn't being sent (though set to send with preset) on the first pass... the first pass is changing the preset, and clicking a second time is sending seems to be when the cc message is actually getting recognized.

What MIDI Channel are you using for the D-Two?
What is the MIDI cable path from Ground Control Pro MIDI Out?
What are your other Instant Access buttons set to?
Also, as a test, try setting the Program Change for the D-Two on these two Presets to "--" (type either "00" or "128") and save that way. Then check if bouncing between the two presets correctly sets the Bypass state.

I am using channel 1 for the d-two, have an Eventide H9 on CH5. and the 5150 3 50 watt on ch 10.
For the signal path, I have the MIDI out of the GCP going to the GCX Pedal in, then GCX midi out to the eventide H9 midi in, midi out from H9 to the D Two in, D two thru to the 5150 3. I have the pedal set for the 4 presets, 8 IA's... the first 5 IA's are controlling the 5 pedals I have plugged into the GCX. I have IA 6 controlling the bypass on the H9 (which is working with no issue in bypassing with the CC sent with preset, like I'm trying to get the D two to do as well) and IA's 7 and 8 are currently open/the ones in play to use with the D two. I will test the 00 and 128 this AM... however, is that just to test that the D two will go bypass and active with pressing the new preset once? because if i left it as such, I wouldnt be able to control which preset it goes to with a preset change, just the preset I manually turn it to and only control active/bypass switching.
