I need some advice on putting my rack gear together.
Line 6 g90 wireless
rack tuner
dbx 1074 noise gate
mxr phase 100
boss chorus
gcx switcher
mesa boogie high gain amp switcher
mesa boogie quad pre amp
mesa boogie triaxis preamp
jc120 combo
mesa boogie295 power amp
I wish to run the quad and triaxis together for my heavy sound and the jc120 and triaxis for my clean with the phase 100 before the amps and the boos chorus in the triaxis loop.
I also need some advice on how to connect the dbx 1074 to the quad and triaxis loops for noise gate on the heavy sounds.
All is being controlled by a ground control pro.
Cheers

Hello MesaQuad (if that is your real name
)
Here is a typical design that uses all of your components except the Boss Chorus, (the output of the MESA Amp Switcher will overload the chorus so I recommended a TC G-Major or equivalent Rack processor)
This design might not be exactly what you want but its my recommendation.
The GCX is performing the following:
muting the guitar for tuning
selecting the amp switcher channel
selecting QUAD pre-amp functions (you can wire those functions as required)
For the JC120, you don't have to return the preamp to the Amp Switcher (just ignore that return cable and the amp will receive the guitar signal, and amplify through the JC120 speakers, when selected by the Amp Switcher)
Also, I am using 2 of the DBX 1074 Gates, one for the Guitar input and one for the Amp Switcher output.
I hope this helps!

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the recommendation, its a bit different to what i was thinking. I was thinking of doing it like this
gcx loop 1- tuner/mute
gcx loop 2- mxr phase 100
output of gcx loop2 in to gate 1 of dbx 1074
output of gate 1 of dbx 1074 into high gain amp switcher
triaxis effects loop send into gcx loop 3
gcx loop 3- gate 2 of dbx 1074
gcx loop 3 output into loop 4 input
gcx loop 4- gate 4 of dbx 1074
gcx loop 5 - boss chorus
gcx loop 5 output into triaxis effects return (channel a)
quad effects send into gate 3 of dbx 1074
dbx 1074 gate 3 output into quad effects return (channel b)
high gain amp switcher 1- triaxis
high gain amp switcher 2- quad
high gain amp switcher 3- jc 120
high gain amp switcher output into mesa 295 mono input
triaxis switching jacks to control high gain amp switcher and lead 2 channel on quad preamp
Can you see any reasons i shouldn't hook everything up like this?
Cheers
Devon

Hi Devon
I don't see anything glaringly wrong with your proposal... (Beside the use of 4 gates and the possible overload of the Boss Chorus
) The best thing to do is to wire it up and work through any problems until you are completely happy!
Good Luck.... Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Joe,
The idea behind using the 4 gates is to use one for the guitar signal, two to clean up the high gain noise of the quad and triaxis and one for clean sounds of the triaxis if needed. If the chorus pedal doesn't work well in the triaxis effects loop ill just run it before the amp. I know james hetfield has used the dbx in his rig in the past and seeing pics of it labelled heavy and clean as me curious as to how it is all connected. Any ideas?
Cheers
