Hello,

I'm about to purchase a GCP but have a few issues I would like clarified, please.

A) Can a standard 250K pot Ernie Ball volume pedal work, or should I buy a 25K pot pedal?

B) Can I hook up a Roland GR-33 guitar synth and control it with one of the instant access switches via MIDI, or do I specifically need the GCX switcher for that?

C) Would it be possible to use the expression pedal from the Roland synth to send CC messages to my TC Electronic unit using the GCP as the conduit? (If this question is too Roland specific, I apologize, and I'll just toy with everything once I get it and find some kind of solution.)

Finally, as far as setup goes:

How can I avoid running two MIDI cables the length of the stage to connect both the GCP and Roland unit? It seems like I would need to loop everything around. 7pin out to the in of preamp, but then I would need to go from the preamp (or effects unit) to the Roland, or am I missing something?

Sorry for the noob questions, but I want to pick everything up in one order and have some idea how to configure everything.

A. The Ground Control Pro will accept just about any passive pedal you can find regardless of the pot value. Because a guitar player's rig is ever changing, pick one that has a useful value for whatever else you may use it for.

B. The Instant Access buttons will send MIDI Control Change messages on any MIDI channel... any device capable of responding to MIDI Control Change messages can have its parameters controlled by Instant Access buttons.

C. Not too sure I follow you here but if you have an expression pedal connected to the Ground Control Pro it can be used to control parameters on any of your capable MIDI devices. An expression pedal's function and target device is programmed per Ground Control Pro preset.

(D.?) For the setup question there are multiple answers really... there is no specific order the MIDI devices must be connected except that any transmitting device (like a MIDI foot controller) needs to be before any receiving device (like a processor or MIDI preamp). The only other need is if you must use phantom power, but in this case if the synth is out on the floor then I would assume there is power available to power the Ground Control Pro directly.
