Chanel Switching for Preamp using stereo loops?

Post by bsrguitar »

Howdy,
I am going to be setting up my Groove Tubes Trio preamp using the GCX as a channel switcher, as well as an effects switcher. The Trio has 2 rack channel switching jacks. The fist one is mono or T/S, but the input that switches between Mean and Scream requires a TRS input. A fellow at Fender (Groove Tubes new parent Co.) stated he thought I would need to use 3 GCX channels, using a TRS cable from the Mean/Scream jack to 2 discreet GCX channels, as that is what he did with his Bradshaw switcher. He did not know I had stereo loops though, which is hopefully an advantage to the GCX product. Is there a way to use a stereo loop from the GCX and just go TRS to TRS insert for the Mean/Scream on the Trio? Will I have the ability to assign that using a Ground Control (not Pro)? If so, would I assisng it as latching type switch or monentary?
Thank You for your help, it is great that you have a forum like this.

Cheers,
Chad

You would still need three loops in order to control the functions separately. The stereo loops do use the TRS connection but the Tip and Ring are switched at the same time as would be needed to switch a stereo device in and out.
