Hex - possible to send a CC to mute an input or output?

Hi. Title says it all. I rtfm but just making sure. Thanks in advance.
The HEX will respond to MIDI Program Changes and Control Changes. a Program Change will set any combination of the loops and a Control Change will control an individual loop.
To use a loop as a mute, you would not connect back to the return. for instance if you had a tuner in a loop and wanted a silent tuning, you would have only the Send of that loop connected to the Input of the Tuner. with nothing connected to the Output of the tuner or the Return of the Loop.
