Power requirements for GCX unit on its own

I posted a question on powering a setup before and was informed that a GCX powering a Ground Control required 9VAC at 1A.

What is the requirement for a GCX if the Ground Control is powered independently?

The GCX can get by with 500mA if it is not going to be providing phantom power.
