Sorry for the delay!
I thought you didn't have an effects loop on this amp this whole time... sorry for the mistake. Here is a test to try out... connect your guitar directly to the HD500, then connect the output of the HD500 directly to the Effects Return on the Marshall. Do you get any sound that way?
