Hey Andi,
Fuzz for me is always first in the chain. Then I go for overdrives, and actual distortion pedals.
I will say that any "vibe" effect can usually sound better with a bit of grit on it. Usually, I always used a layered gain stage path. All that means is that I like even my cleans channel to have a bit of grit to it. If you watch this video, you'll see the method I'm talking about:
