I use a Line 6 Variax guitar and the Multi-FX unit that I use is the Pod HD Pro running into a Mesa 20/20. What I would like to do is to be able to do is when I switch to an Acoustic model on the guitar, to be able to select a different preset on the Shortboard and have that send my output to an acoustic amp instead of the 20/20.
Is this something that the GCX Audio Switcher can do?
Thanks,
Anthony
Is this possible?
Re: Is this possible?
A GCX can certainly be used to A/B between the two amplifier inputs. Although, it might be overkill if you will only be using one of the eight loops.
Which version of the Shortboard are you using?

Re: Is this possible?
The Shortboard MKII does look to have the ability to control individual loops on the GCX.
I hope that helps!

Re: Is this possible?
How would it do that if the only MIDI connector on the back of the GCX Switcher is a MIDI out? Wouldn't if have to be a MIDI In?
Re: Is this possible?
There are two MIDI Connectors on the back of the GCX, a Pedal In and a MIDI Out/Thru. You would connect the Shortboard MKII to the Pedal In connector.
For Sale: Original DMC GCX in Excellent Condition ($275) and a far more versatile SoundSculpture GL also in Excellent Condition ($1750). Free CONUS Shipping.

^^^What he said!
Pedal In on the GCX is a MIDI In, it just has the capability of sending power down pins 1 and 3 for powering our Ground Control MIDI controllers. You might want to check with Line 6 that these pins are not in use or simply use a MIDI cable that doesn't connect pins one and 3.

Re: Is this possible?
I spoke to Line 6 to ask them about pins 1 & 3. They said "we have a 5V rail on Pin 4" They weren't able to tell me beyond that whether the GCX power on pins 1 & 3 would affect it, but they said they have never had any questions about using the POD with the GCX, so no news is probably good news.
Should I go ahead and try?

Re: Is this possible?
Sounds like its just a normal MIDI Out so it should be fine.
