help! with my new guitar rack rig
Re: help! with my new guitar rack rig
Welcome!
What do you want to do with your two preamps and compressor?
A/B Preamp #1 OR Preamp #2 -> compressor -> power amp?
Do you have any other effects or MIDI gear? Will this be mono, dual mono, stereo?

Re: help! with my new guitar rack rig
thanks for your answer...
actually i have a peavey valveking 20. but i´m trying to get a mesa o marshall 9100.
for now just the peavey though...
I´m planning to use both ADA preamps, one for distorsion and one for the clean channel, with different tubes that´s the reason i´m using both.
For effects i use the g major, and i´m not sure about the compressor...but i want to use it as well.
I also have a pod pro xt but i think is gonna stay in the rack just for the looks...
I need to know the right loop for this rig. it´s hard to make the right configuration and sound.
thanks again...

Ok!
I don't know exactly which numbered Loops you will use so I will label them with "A", "B", and "C" for now.
Here is how to set up a GCX Loop to A/B switch between the two preamps.
1. Connect your guitar to the Guitar In on the front of the GCX, then you can use the rear panel Guitar Out and Feedthru to feed the instrument input of each preamp.
2. Connect the Output of the Clean preamp to the In of GCX Loop A.
3. Connect the Output of the Distortion Preamp to the Return of same GCX Loop A.
4. Connect the Out of GCX Loop A to the In of GCX Loop B.
These two GCX Loops will be for your effects devices. The Compressor or the G-Major can be first... that is up to you for how you like it to sound.
5. Connect the Send of GCX Loop B to your #1 effect device Input.
6. Connect the Output of your #1 effect device to the Return of GCX Loop B.
7. Connect the Out of GCX Loop B to the In of GCX Loop C.
8. Connect the Send of GCX Loop C to the #2 effect device Input.
9. Connect the #2 effect device to the Return of GCX Loop C.
10. The Out of GCX Loop C will go to your poweramp. (Effects Loop Return on the Valveking 20)
Let us know if you get stuck!

Re: help! with my new guitar rack rig
hey John!!
i tried what you told me, i wasn´t lucky this time. all i´ve got was the clean sound but just from the peavey, i get no sound from the ADA or the G major. The signal is ok on the GCX, i´m really lost right now, i really need to get this right once for all.
as i read the gcx manual i understand that every device must be connected via midi. here´s a couple of pics out of my guitar rig. if you can help me out...please!!!
thanks for everything...

Re: help! with my new guitar rack rig
Your picture shows no connections being made! You can use any three GCX Loops you want. Here is a slight edit of the connections for clarity...
1. Connect your guitar to the Guitar In on the front of the GCX.
2. Connect the Guitar Out on the rear of the GCX to the Clean Preamp instrument input.
3. Connect the Feedthru on the rear of the GCX to the to Distortion Preamp instrument input.
4. Connect the Output of the Clean Preamp to the In of GCX Loop 1.
5. Connect the Output of the Distortion Preamp to the Return GCX Loop 1.
6. Connect the Out of GCX Loop 1 to the In of GCX Loop 2.
7. Connect the Send of GCX Loop 2 to the G-Major mono Input.
8. Connect the mono Output of the G-Major to the Return of GCX Loop 2.
9. Connect the Out of GCX Loop 2 to the In of GCX Loop 3.
10. Connect the Send of GCX Loop 3 to the Compressor Input.
11. Connect the Output of the Compressor to the Return of GCX Loop 3.
12. The Out of GCX Loop 3 will go to your poweramp. (Effects Loop Return on the Valveking 20)
Loop 1 will select the Clean Preamp when Off or the Distortion Preamp when On.
Loop 2 will turn the G-Major On/Off.
Loop 3 will turn the Compressor On/Off.
You will certainly need to connect all your MIDI gear with MIDI cables also, but this shouldn't prevent you from hearing the preamps and effects if you didnt connect the MIDI cables yet. After connecting the audio cables, you will only need the GCX connected to the Ground Control Pro via MIDI to hear everything work.

7. Connect the Send of GCX Loop 2 to the G-Major mono Input.
8. Connect the mono Output of the G-Major to the Return of GCX Loop 2.
9. Connect the Out of GCX Loop 2 to the In of GCX Loop 3.

hi John!!
