Best wa to hook up Boss NS2 to GCX

Post by CAR-15 »

I have a GCX & GCP. I have a Boss NS2, Micro Pog, Carbon Copy Delay, EHX Doctor Q. I have all of the pedals in loops and working. I just need to know how to wire in the NS2. Where should it go? It's the only thing I haven't figured out.

I have a setup very close the this example except no rack wah or wireless system. I am plugging straight into the GCX. I can't figure out how it is ran in this example.

HELP!!

In the diagram you provided, it looks like the Loop 7 Out is feeding the NS-2 Input, the NS-2 Output is feeding the GCX Guitar In, and the GCX Guitar Out and Feed Thru are feeding the two amps.

Since your rig isn't quite as complicated, and you're plugging straight into your GCX, I'd suggest you try this:

Connect the GCX Guitar Out directly to the NS-2 In and the NS-2 Loop Send to the GCX Loop 1 In. Connect your FX Pedals to the Send/Return jacks of your GCX Loops 1, 2, etc., in whatever order you prefer. Connect short jumper cables between the Loop Out and Loop In jacks for each loop with an FX pedal, and connect the Out jack of the last GCX Loop used to the NS-2 Loop Return. Connect the NS-2 Out to your amplifier In.

FX pedals are controlled by their respective GCX Loops, and NS-2 is always on.

Hope this helps...

I understand everything you say and will hook it up that way. But just for my edification, where is the cable coming out of the Dunlop Crybaby Rack feeding into the GCX? Where is his guitar signal out of Crybaby going into the GCX. It's the only thing I can't figure out!!!

As best as I can suss out the signal routing, the wireless signal from the guitar is fed to the rack mount Audio Technica wireless receivers. The signal then goes to the Whirlwind Selector which, in turn, feeds the rack Wah which feeds the GCX.

Given that the NS-2 is feeding the GCX Guitar In, I suspect the Rack Wah Out is connected directly to the GCX Loop 1 In jack. That way, the guitar signal would pass thru all the effects in Loops 1 thru 7 before hitting the NS-2, and then the GCX Guitar In, after which it is fed directly to the two amps. Very elegant way to process the guitar signal thru all the effects before it even hits the GCX Guitar In.

I'd say nyteowl nailed it... rack wah feeds directly into Loop 1 In.

Plug that bad boy in and turn up that amp already! ;)
