Scary looking GCX Bass Rig Diagram, will it work?

Post by ozzynotwood »

Hello. While some pedals are in transit to me for my bass rig please take a loop at my proposed diagram. This is a "dual path" design. Path 1 handles the clean (with compressor and decimator always on), Path 2 handles the Dirty.

I'm trying to achieve these pre-sets:

Preset 1. Silent Tuning
Path 1 - Compressor - Decimator - Loop 1 (Tuner).
Path 2 - All loops off and completely removed from signal path.

Preset 2. Dry Clean
Path 1 - Compressor - Decimator.
Path 2 - All loops off and completely removed from signal path.

Preset 3. Dry Clean w/ EQ
Path 1 - Compressor - Decimator - Loop 3 (EQ).
Path 2 - All loops off and completely removed from signal path.

Preset 4. Blended Dry Clean & Dirty
Path 1 - Compressor - Decimator.
Path 2 - Any drive loop (5,6,7) on & Loop 4 & Loop 8 on to feed Clean and Dry to X-Blender

Preset 5. Blended Dry w/EQ & Dirty
Path 1 - Compressor - Decimator - Loop 3 (EQ)
Path 2 - Any drive loop (5,6,7) on & Loop 4 & Loop 8 on to feed Clean and Dry to X-Blender

The idea with Preset 5 is I can use the EQ pedal with my dry signal and not have the EQ enter the distortion pedals. I also wish to have a compressed clean sound but have no compression going into the distortion pedals.

For those of you that aren't familiar with the X-Blender, it purpose in life is to add a parallel effects loop to a pedal board with a blend control. Turns out it can be used to combine 2 separate signal and blend those and the end of the chain. Has a phase flip switch "just in case"......never needed it.

From going over my diagram I believe I wont have the problem of having 2 paths of clean going into then x blender as long as the drives are on and the loops are programmed correctly.

Please see link below.

Let me know if you think there are any faults with this diagram!

Good Luck!

I would think that since "Path 1" looks to always be active in the presets you listed you could run the X-Blender as follows...

1. Out of Loop 3 to the In of Loop 4
2. Loop 4 Send to In of the X-Blender
3. Out of the X-Blender to the Return of Loop 4.
4. Out of Loop 4 to the Input of your amp.
5. Out of Loop 7 to the Return of the X-Blender.

Whenever you don't want "Path 2" simply turn Loop 4 Off.

I hope that helps!
