GCP in stomp box mode?

Post by drolaw »

I'm having trouble setting up my GCP to be like a stomp box configuration. Here is what I'm trying to do and I hope someone could point me in the right direction.

I current have the GCP setup in 4 preset mode with the 8 IA buttons. Here is a rough outline of what I have it setup now.

Presets 1 -4 = Clean, rhythm, lead, lead w/long delay. Basically I use 1-4 as my channel switching on my amp.

Instant access button (GCX) =
1. Micro Amp
2. Phaser
3. Flanger
4. Chorus
5. Octave
6-8. Empty

I want to be able to switch channels using my GCP without losing my phaser. I know I can program the channels to have phaser but I only need it for one song. So, for my use I would prefer that I engage my phaser and it stay on even through channel changes.

I think I need to put my effect pedals for the 8 IA buttons on a momentary instead of a normal..if I understand the manual correctly???? Would that be correct or is there another way?

There are a couple ways to go about this...

You can disable the GCX on any of your presets so pressing the preset button will not change anything on the GCX.
This is done in Preset Edit.
1. Recall the preset you want to edit.
2. Press the Edit button.
3. Press the Select Down button repeatedly until you see the "GCX-1" screen.
4. Press the No button. The screen should briefly say "DISABLED" then show "(GCX-1)" to indicate that the GCX is disabled for this preset.
5. Press the Edit button to exit, then press the Yes button to Save.

Or you can create presets that are specifically for this one song that set the proper amp channel and effects for the main changes in the song. It isn't uncommon to use a preset bank for a song with the presets being something like 1. Intro 2. Verse 3. Chorus 4. Solo often with the song title incorporated into the preset title.

I hope that helps!

This was great info...Thank you. I ended up disabling the GCX for my presets (1-4) which works like a charm. Although I do see the value in using a bank for a song where delay (or any effect) is needed in certain places.
