Mesa Boogie Triple Crown w/ Ground Control Pro
Mesa Boogie Triple Crown w/ Ground Control Pro
I am trying to program an instant access button to turn on/off my Mesa TC50's Boost. In the Mesa manual it shows that the boost is Midi channel 25 however I can only go to 16 on the GCP unit? Can anyone help me figure out how to get this button programmed?
Re: Mesa Boogie Triple Crown w/ Ground Control Pro
That should be MIDI Control Change 25, on whatever MIDI Channel (1-16) you are already using to control any of the the other amp functions. Unless you have changed it on the amp, or have multiple MIDI Devices programmed into the Ground Control Pro, you will likely be using MIDI Channel 1.
On the Ground Control Pro:
1. Press both SETUP Buttons at the same time to enter Setup Mode.
2. Press the button labeled INSTANT ACCESS.
3. At this screen the first character indicates the Instant Access Button Number (1-8) you want to edit. Use the Select Up/Down Buttons to select the Instant Access Button you want to use.
4. Use the Data +/- Buttons to scroll thru all the options until you see "CH.1" for MIDI Channel 1.
5. Press the Cursor Right Button to highlight the "CTL" field for the Control Change Number.
6. Use the Data +/- Buttons to scroll thru all the options until you see "CTL 025" for Control Change 25.
7. Press the Cursor Right Button to select the Button Mode. You will use either "Normal" for Latching type action, or "X-Mit w/Preset" to be able to program the Boost to be on or off with each Ground Control Pro Preset.
8. Press either SETUP Button to exit and save the changes.

Re: Mesa Boogie Triple Crown w/ Ground Control Pro
I am also setting up my TC-50 with the GCpro, but can't seem to get the two to communicate.
I am using pgs 21-23 of the TC50 manual (https://mesa-boogie.imgix.net/media/Use ... 180115.pdf). I set the manual rotary switch on the back from 0 to 1, which should enable MIDI channel 02 (G-Major 2 on Channel 1).
MIDI out of GCpro>GCX>GMajor2>TC50
Specifically, I am trying to program a MIDI program change to GCpro presets [by selecting a preset, tapping Edit>Selecting MIDI device 02 (TC50) and selecting a program #)], but when I engage the STORE switch on the TC50, the LED doesn't light up.
This seems more of an issue to take up with Mesa, but I know JClark is extremely knowledgable and helpful...

Re: Mesa Boogie Triple Crown w/ Ground Control Pro
Assuming the TC50 is last in the MIDI chain, make sure to use the MIDI Thru from the G-Major to feed the TC-50, NOT the MIDI Out.MJX wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 8:30 amI am also setting up my TC-50 with the GCpro, but can't seem to get the two to communicate.

Otherwise, as a test, you can connect the Ground Control Pro MIDI Out directly to the MIDI In on the TC-50 to be sure the two are programmed correctly.
Let us know how it goes!

Re: Mesa Boogie Triple Crown w/ Ground Control Pro
...yep, I was using MIDI OUT. MIDI THRU of the Gmajor2 eventually cooperated and I was able to make GCpro presets call TC50 presets, which I was also able to edit/store to the amp itself when switching to MIDI THRU.JohnClark wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 12:15 pmAssuming the TC50 is last in the MIDI chain, make sure to use the MIDI Thru from the G-Major to feed the TC-50, NOT the MIDI Out.

PS: It looks like I have both my MkV AND TC50 fully up and running with the GCpro/GCX at this point, so I probably won't be posting anymore, indefinitely. Thanks again for all the excellent service; this forum has been extremely helpful.
