Problems with my GCX

Post by MAGAVI »

Hi there my name is Marcos. I hope youre getting great. The reason of this post is because i have a problem with my gcx. Actually my guitar rig is an Ada preamp, Mesa Boogie recto preamp, and my G major and a crunch box distortion pedal.

My problem is that when i connetct everything, when i use the distortion chanel of my ada, rectifier or crunch box, theres a ground like sound even when i turn off all the volume and tone knob of my guitar, and when i play for example the ada preamp with the crunch box with out of the gcx, the ground sound go out, it disappear. The order of my connection in the gcx is like this: guitar>> guitar in (gcx) >>guitar out >> ada preamp >> rectfier pre >> g major >> return of the loop fx of my smarvo amp, sometimes i added th crunch box in the first loop and then the others in te same order.

Can you please help me?

If you connect your guitar directly to the Input of the ADA preamp does the noise go away? If so then you will need to isolate the GCX from the rack rails to eliminate the ground loop in your rack setup. You can use HumFrees for this.

If that does not fix the problem then I will need a more detailed connection description.

Good luck!

Where can you get HumFrees... I suppose that is a good question... but the answer to your question will for now have to depend on your answer to my original question...

With all the other connections as you previously mentioned, does the noise go away if you connect your guitar directly to your preamp? You must first answer this before I can send you off to go buy something that may not fix your problem.

Ok, you´ll see. That particular sound was having because of the rectifier preamp, i moved the ground switch up to lift option in the rear part of the rectifier preamp and part of the buzz sound go out. But theres still a low noise very very low noise, and when i switch the ada into a distortion preset, even when i turn off all the knobs of my guitar the noise still go on, in the rectifier doesnt happen. Answering your cuestion, when i connect my guitar into the input of the ada, the sound is the same and the same noise still. But curiously a little bit of the noise go away when i connect my guitar into the ada, but when i connect my guitar in the guitar in of the gcx it makes a little bit noise when the rectifier loop is on. I suspect that maybe my cables that are connected in the gcx to the other devices maybe can be the problem. Is important to mencion that never combine both preamps, i use one preamp at a time.

I am afraid I am just not understanding exactly how you have things connected to the GCX... can you fill out this blank GCX worksheet with all connections you are making and send it back to me?
